But not you 君は違う

上級生に遅れをとれど、下級生や小学生も待望の夏休みに突入して10日以上経ちました。14歳未満の子供は、法律上一人で留守番させていけないため、共働きの親は新年度が始まる2月1日までスケジュール調整に悩まされます。

クライストチャーチで一、二の伝統を誇る男子高でも11月に卒業式がありました。式では通常、卒業生へ贈る言葉と答辞が予定されますが、今年の卒業生代表は特別でした。

式の一週間前にガンが発覚。即刻、治療開始。式当日は当然欠席するはずが車椅子で出席。嘔吐を乗り越えてスピーチを自ら行う。動画がアップロードされ英国のメディアにも取り上げられる。2015年度国内における発言の中でダントツの最優秀を獲得。

ガンに勝って、18年といわずもっともっと生きて欲しいです。

for the opportunities you have. The opportunity to learn from the men who have walked before you and those that walk beside you.
